The University of Washington Medical Center is seeking a highly motivated clinical pharmacist Pharmacist 3 to provide pharmaceutical care for our patients. Our pharmacist team provides extensive pharmaceutical care to both inpatients and outpatients, and are a vital part of the multidisciplinary patient care team. In addition to direct patient care responsibilities, our pharmacists provide drug therapy consults, participate in treatment protocol development, provide patient/family/staff education, facilitate transition of care from the inpatient to outpatient setting, precept pharmacy students and residents, and performs the duties of a Pharmacist 2 when in the distribution setting.

Demonstrated ability to effectively use computerization for efficient operations.

Professional and effective verbal and written communications skills.

This is a part-time (50%) position.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Fill prescriptions for medications and compound pharmaceutical preparations which include labeling and maintenance of patient records.
  • Ensure timely delivery of medications to proper patient care areas.
  • Assist pharmacy technicians in all areas of technical responsibilities.
  • Provide drug information to patients, physicians, nurses, and other members of the health care team.
  • Effectively operate and utilize the computer system.
  • Ensure that ontrolled substances are properly stored, dispensed, recorded, and inventoried.
  • Provide information to clinics not covered by clinical pharmacists. Monitor medication therapy for rational use.
  • Participate in quality assurance programs in the department.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality according to UWMC standards.
  • Adhere to UWMC Pharmacy Services and UWMC policies and procedures.

    Two years of experience in pharmacy practice. Months spent in the completion of an American Society of Health System Pharmacists accredited residency training program may substitute month-for-month for the experience.

    Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
